Thermal
Overload Protector (available in different shapes and sizes as shown here) is a bimetal disc specially designed for a specific
rating of temperature. This provides a complete protection to single
phase Motors, Transformers, Pumps and all Domestic Appliances from
damaging due to overheating. These can be embedded into the motors
or transformer winding or any other equipments. The Protectors are
selected according to the safe temperature of the motor or the equipment
from damaging due to overheating. Whenever the equipment gets heated
to the switching temperature of the Protector, the contact of the
Protector changes its status
and the Equipment can be switched off to avoid further heating and
burning.
The protectors are available in different current ratings and wide
range of
switching temperatures from 60 deg. to 160 deg. C.
The NC type protectors
are connected directly in series with the winding of
Motors or Primary of Transformers. Whenever the winding gets heated
beyond the acceptable
limit, the contact of the Protector opens and the equipment
(Motor or Transformer) gets switched off. The Protector contact
resets automatically
40 deg. C. below the tripping temperature to avoid the chattering
effect. This is a most economical and fail safe solution to protecting
the Equipments
from damaging due to overheating.
Each TOP
has a bimetal disc specially designed for that rating. Every TOP
is calibrated and checked twice for opening and resetting temperature.
Thus consistent performance over required life cycles is achieved.
